Mohamed Mustafa Saidalavi (musnet)'s Journey So Far
Mohamed Mustafa Saidalavi is a visionary Social Entrepreneur, ICT Systems and Solution Architect and Business Intelligence Analyst with a stellar professional and humanitarian career in UAE, spanning over two decades. An internationally patented inventor, Mohamed is currently a highly
passionate and award-winning, regionally acclaimed advocate for the Protection of Children in the online space.
An IT specialist by profession, Mohamed held the position of Business Intelligence Analyst at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Distribution until late 2014. Coming aboard ADNOC as a Web Systems Architect in 2009, Mohamed designed and developed various ground-breaking systems and applications including a comprehensive Workflow system which comprised a whopping 85% of the Oil Distribution giant’s Intranet. When promoted to Business Intelligence Analyst in 2008, Mohamed was one of the brain behind some outstanding Data Intelligence systems which include Executive KPI management and Integrated Decision Support.
During his career, Mohamed came across various risks the emerging Digital Technologies pose to children and teens. With his very strong sense of social commitment, Mohamed began to organise awareness sessions for children and parents within the communities in UAE and other Neighbor countries on a voluntary basis. To better serve the Cause, he utilized his spare time to expose himself to the global best practices in this area and in building up his capacity on Child Online Protection (COP) at an internationally competent level.
To achieve this objective, Mohamed invested his own resources over the years, to undertake various international trips to key COP and related Centres across the globe. These include Expert exchange programs to INTERPOL, FBI, UNICEF, ITU, WHO, Google, EUROPOL, National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children - USA, The European Commission etc.
As an Indian-born Social advocate, Mohamed became concerned with the high number of young causalities which the explosive growth of ICT penetration brought about in his home country. To effectively address this issue, he founded a Non-Profit Organization: Developing Internet Safety for Communities (DISC) Foundation in India in 2010, with a group of like-minded IT professionals. Under Mohamed’s leadership as CEO, DISC Foundation has collaborated with United Nations-ITU, INTERPOL and the Government of India to build capacity on Child Online Protection for various stakeholders including Law enforcement agencies. Thanks to his pioneering work, DISC Foundation has been recognised by the European Union as the Official EU-authorized body to commemorate World Safer Internet Day in India since 2010.
